The following is from the "Genealogy of the Hoyt, Height and Hight Families", by David W, Hoyt, 1871, Nicholas Hoyt was born November 11/1622, and died July 7/1655, He married on June 12/1646, Susannah Joyce, a widow, who died July 4/1655, She had a daughter Abigail Joyce by her first husband, whose name is not known. He left an estate inventoried at œ147.0,0. Issue:- 1. Samuel Hoyt. He spelled his name Haight. Born at Windsor, Conn,, May 1/1647, died at Flushing, L,I., in September 1712. He was a Quaker. He married Sarah ---. See Subject 150 for issue and further particulars, 2. Jonathan Hoyt, Born June 7/1649, died March 21/1696-7. He married, 1st, on March 6/1671-2, Sarah Pond, who died October 16/1676, daughter of Samuel Pond: 2nd, Mary Bell, who was living in 1704, daughter of Francis Bell of Stamford, Conn. He had one child by his first wife and three by his second wife. In 1672 he removed to Guilford, Conn. 3. David Hoyt. Born at Windsor, Conn:., April 22/1651 died 1704, He married, 1st on April 3/1673, Sarah Wells, who died in 1676, daughter of Thomas Wells, He married, 2nd, Mary Wilson, He married, 3rd, Abigail Pomeroy, daughter of Nathaniel Cook of Windsor, and widow of Joshua Pomeroy. He settled in Hadley, Mess,, in 1678, and removed to Deerfield, Mass,, in 1682, When the French and Indians attacked Deerfield on February 29/17O3-4, he, his wife and four children were taken captive and taken to Canada. Food being scarce, David perished of hunger near the lower Cohoes, in the vicinity of what is now Newbury, Vermont, in May or June 1704. He was compelled to carry a large bundle and also his youngest child or see her killed by the Indians. He fainted under the double burden. His widow endured all the horrors of captivity, returned to Deerfield, and afterwards married Nathaniel Rice and removed to Wallingford, Conn. 4.
