Subject 350, 7/7/48 (325) NATHANIEL POTTER, The following is from the "Genealogy of Ten Generations of the Briggs Family", by Pearl Leona Heck: from the "Francis Cooke of the Mayflower Genealogy": and from "The Manchester Family of Rhode Island", by Alden C. and Rita C. Manchester, published in the New England Historical and Genealogical Society of Boston, Vol 101 (October 1947) and 102 (of January 1948). Nathaniel was born in 1637 and died October 20/1704, He lived at Dartmouth, Mass., near or east of Central Village, just across the east border of Rhode Island near Tiverton. He married Elizabeth Stokes, who was probably the grand daughter of Mary (Dyer) Stokes Maurice of Portsmouth, R.I. His will, proved on November 20/1704, left his wife all moveables and the house for life and one third of the estate. To son Stokes, half of the land on the south side of the highway, with orchard. To daughter Mary Wilbour, œ2 and a cow. Issue:- 1. Stokes Potter. Died 1704. He married Elizabeth --. 2. John Potter. He married Mary ----. 3. Nathaniel Potter. He married in 1688, Joan Wilbor, born 1668, died 1759, daughter of William and Martha Wilbor, subject 348. Two children 4. William Potter. He married Anne Durfee, and had a son Nathaniel who married Ruth Manchester, daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (Wodell) Manchester, see subject 320 for issue and further particulars, 5. Benjamin Potter, He married Mary ----. 6. Samuel Potter. 7. Mary Potter. She married in 1689, Samuel Wilbor, born 1664, died 1740, son of William and Martha Wilbor, see subject 348.
