Note: The following is a section of a family history compiled by Herbert Armstrong Poole between 1905 & 1960, transcribed by AAA Maitland 1998. Subject numbers are HAP's originals. HAP's page divisions are shown: after subject page numbers are complete document page numbers in brackets and issue dates. The original text had generations indented in turn: here, generation numbers are added to each individual: the children of the title subject are "1/--". Subject 708. (388) JOHN PARKER. The following is from the "Savage Genealogical Dictionary", Vol 3, P 352. John Parker was born at Saco in 1634, and was of Kennebec, Maine, son of John of Saco, perhaps born in England and came to Boston. John Parker married on August 20/1660, Mary, the daughter of Daniel Fairfield. In 1659 he bought of the Indians a large tract of land on the west side of the Kennebec River opposite to his father's island, now Phipsbury. In "Charlestown Genealogies", by Thomas Bellows Lyman, it gives John Parker's wife's name differently, and states John received relief from the town of Charlestown: other sources state the settlers on the Kennebec River suffered dreadful privations and losses through continued droughts, fires and Indian depredations: so it is probable he came to Charlestown in poor circumstances. Issue : - 1. Daniel Parker. Born 1667 died October 18/1694. He married Anne Errington, who married after his death, 2nd, John May, and 3rd, Thomas Coppin. Savage gives her father's name as Abraham, but the Charlestown Genealogies says differently, see subject 710. For issue and further particulars, see subject 354. 2. James Parker. 3. Four daughters names unknown.
