The following is from "Notes on the Ancestry & Connections of Rear-Admiral Thomas Graves", by Eben Putnam (1895), on file at the New England Historical & Genealogical Society of Boston. John Graves was a Shipwright at Limehouse, London. Date of his birth unknown he died December 1637. He married, 1st, on April 6/1597, Sarah Malter of Ratcliff, who died between 1618-1624. 2nd, on June 24/1624, Susan Horton, and had one son by her. 3rd, on May 18/1630, Mary Raymond, a widow of St Mary Matfellon. Issue:-- (by his first wife) 1. William Graves. Bapt February 1597-5, died young. 2. John Graves.' August 20/1600, died young. 3. Sarah Grams. January 16/1602, died young. 4. Thomas Graves. " June 16/1605, died July 31/1653. He married Katharine Gray. See subject 726 for issue and further particulars. 5. Rebecca Graves December 13/1607. She married George Margett and had had daughters. 6. Matthew Graves " March 5/1608. 7. William Graves. " March 18/1609, died 1667. He was a Shipwright of Limehouse, London.
