The following is from "The Eddy Family in America", by Ruth Story Devereux Eddy, Boston (1930). William Eddye (as it was then spelled), was born at Bristol, England, and died at Cranbrooke November 23/1616. He matriculated as "Sizar" at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and received the degree of B.A. in 1583. From then until 1586 he was Curate of Thurston, and later Vicar of Cranbrooke. He married at Cranbrooke on November 20/1587, Mary Fosten, daughter of John & Ellen (Munn) Fosten. Mary died in July 1611, and William married, 2nd, on February 22/1613-4, Sarah Tayler, a widow with several children. Issue:- (by his first wife) 1. Nathaniel Eddy. Baptized March 30/1589, died young. 2. Mary Eddy. Bapt September 1591. She married in 1616, Simeon Evernden and had three children. 3. Phineas Eddy. Bapt September 1593. He married Katherine Courthopp, and after her death, married, 2nd, Christian ---. Five children. 4. John Eddy Baptized 1597. 5. Eleanor Eddy. Baptized August 1599. 6. Abigail Eddy. Baptized in October 1601, died at Charlestown, Mass, May 20/1687. She married probably in 1619 at Cranbrooke, John Benjamin born about 1598, died June 14/1645 in Cambridge. See subject 732 for issue and further particulars. 7. Anna Eddy. Bapt May 1603. 8. Elizabeth Eddy. Bapt December 1606. 9. Samuel Eddy. Bapt May 15/1608. 10. Zacharias Eddy. Bapt March 1610. Issue:- (by his second wife) 11. Priscilla Eddy. Bapt December 10/1614.
