Subject 2158. 6/20/52 (439) CHRISTOPHER YOUNGS, The following is from "The Youngs Family", by Selah Youngs, New York, 1907. Christopher Young. was born at Southwolds, England, about 1545, and died June 14/1626. He was Vicar of Reydon, Suffolk County, England, in 1611. The Youngs appear to have been of Norman-French origin, He married, late in life as the church disapproved of the clergy marrying, Margaret Elvin, who died at Southwolds, in November 1630, daughter of Richard Elvin, Issue :- 1. John Youngs. Born in England in 1598, died at Southold, L,I., February 1671-2. Ha graduated from Oxford University in 1610. He married, 1st, at Southwold, England, on July 25/1622, Joan Herrington, who died in England about 1630, and had ten children. He married, 2nd, in England, about 1630, Joan Harris, widow of Richard Palgrave: no children by her. He married, 3rd, at Salem, Mass., about 1639, Mary (Warren) Gardner, a widow, who died at Southold, L.I., in 1678, daughter of Thomas Warren of Southwolds, England, and they had two children. 2. Edward Youngs. Born in England, drowned there July 11/1626. 3. Elizabeth Youngs. Born in England: no data. 4. Joseph Youngs. Born in England, died at Southold, L,I., about 1638, In 1638 he was master of the ship "Love", carrying passengers from London to New England, and later master of the ship "Mary & Anne", carrying passengers from Plymouth, Mass,, to England. In 1639 he lived in Salem, Mass., and in 1649 moved to Southold, L,I. In 1636 he was master of a ship plying to the Barbadoes, He married at Southwolds, England, on February 5/1632, Margaret Warren, who died at Southold, L.1. in 1669, daughter of Samuel or Thomas Warren, 5. Christopher Youngs, Born in England, died at Wenham, Mass,, June 1647. He came to America from England in l635 in the ship "Love", of which his brother Joseph was master. He was a weaver. He married in England about 1635, Priscilla Elvin, who died about 1646, daughter of Richard Elvin of Great Yarmouth, England, Norfolk County. They had five children, 6. Mary Youngs. Born in England in 1609, died at Salem, Mass,, about 1636. She married William Brown, who came in the ship "Love" in 1635. 7. Margaret Youngs. Born in England: no data. 8. Martha Youngs, Born at Southwolds, England, baptized there July 1/1613, died at Southold, L.I., June 27/1671. She married before July 1636, Thomas Moore, born about 1615, died at Southold, L.I., June 27/1691, son of Thomas and Anne (---) Moore of Southwolds, England, see subject 1078, for issue and further particulars
